What’s on in Ibiza in October 2026: village fiestas, Fira de la Sal and closings

Coupoles de l'église et ruelle de la vieille ville d'Ibiza

October is the month Ibiza hands itself back to the people who live there. The clubs close one after another, the hotels in Sant Antoni and Platja d’en Bossa pull down the shutters, and meanwhile the cultural calendar fills up: the last village fiestas, the salt fair, jazz and chamber music festivals, a tapas route.

This calendar covers what is happening in Ibiza in October 2026 away from the nightlife, with the closing party dates at the end for those who want both. I say when a date comes from a published official programme and when the details are still to be confirmed: at the time of writing (4 October), Sant Rafel and the Fira de la Sal had not yet published their full 2026 programme.

Key points

  • Village fiestas: Cala de Bou until 20 October (main day on the 12th), end of the Sant Miquel fiestas on the 18th, Santa Teresa in Es Cubells on the 15th, Sant Rafel on the 24th.
  • Fira de la Sal from 16 to 18 October in Sant Jordi and the ses Salines natural park (10th edition).
  • Music: Jazz Point Ibiza from 15 to 18 October, 4 chamber music concerts in Jesús (€10), Soul Food & Blues on 12 October.
  • dTAPASxIBZ from 21 to 25 October in Ibiza town: tapas between €5 and €10.
  • Punta Arabí ends its season on 28 October; the Las Dalias night market has already finished.

The last village fiestas of the year

In October, four villages are still celebrating their patron saint. The format is the same from one village to the next (mass, procession, ball pagès folk dancing, concerts in the evening), but the atmosphere is not: fewer tourists than in August, and many more local families.

The Cala de Bou fiestas, on Sant Antoni bay, are the longest of the month. 12 October is the main day, and it is also the date of the 6th Soul Food & Blues at the Caló de s’Oli auditorium, from 1pm: a DJ set, The Soul Connectors at 1.30pm, then Chicago bluesman Will Jacobs and harmonica player Marcos Coll at 4pm, with Southern US food to taste (black-eyed peas). The rest of the programme mixes a pétanque tournament, a charity day for Ibiza IN, a speech by the Cala de Bou women’s association on 9 October (with dances by the Grup Folklòric Sant Jordi de ses Salines) and a Queen tribute show.

A good plan for Monday the 12th, a national holiday: free, outdoors and family-friendly.

Sant Miquel, last days until 18 October

Started in mid-September, the Sant Miquel de Balansat fiestas run into extra time: open-air cinema, magic, yoga and pilates on some weeks, and every activity is free. They close on Sunday 18 October with the presentation of the Penya Independent teams, a regional football match and a big Argentine asado. Not the most folkloric moment, but a real northern village fiesta, with the fortified church as a backdrop.

Santa Teresa in Es Cubells, 15 October

The smallest of the four, but the most spectacular setting: the church of Es Cubells stands above a cliff of about 120 metres facing Formentera. On 15 October, mass is sung there as a misa pagesa by the parish men’s choir. Expect a small crowd of neighbours, and a sunset over the sea if you stay after the procession. For the spot, see also our pick of the best sunsets in Ibiza.

Sant Rafel, 24 October

24 October is fixed: it is the feast of Sant Rafel de sa Creu, with mass, procession and ball pagès. The full 2026 programme has not been published yet. In previous years, the fiestas ran over the whole month with a craft and rural fair on Sunday morning (local produce, local breeds, paella), a rock Octubrefest and a folk festival. Sant Rafel is also the pottery village: make the most of it and drop into its ceramic workshops.

The Fira de la Sal, 16 to 18 October in Sant Jordi and ses Salines

For its 10th edition, the Sant Josep salt fair returns from 16 to 18 October, between the square in Sant Jordi (craft market and local produce) and the ses Salines natural park. Previous editions offered demonstrations of traditional salt harvesting, guided tours of the salt flats, workshops for children and talks on the island’s salt history, which kept the south of Ibiza going for centuries. The council is due to announce the detailed programme in the coming days.

It is the best event this month if you are travelling with your family: free, during the day, and in one of the island’s most fragile landscapes (more on that in our article on posidonia).

Jazz, chamber music and blues: a busy month for concerts

Jazz Point Ibiza, 15 to 18 October

7th edition of the jazz festival, again at The Standard hotel in Ibiza town, with a new format: afternoon concerts on the rooftop (2.30pm) and evening ones at the JARA restaurant (9pm). On the bill are German saxophonist Karolina Strassmayer, Brazilian guitarist Romero Lubambo, Cuban saxophonist Maikel Vistel and French bassist François Moutin, plus musicians from the island. The 2025 edition sold out: book early.

Santa Eulària chamber music festival, in Jesús

Four concerts at the Jesús cultural centre, €10 online (plus booking fee) on the Santa Eulària council website, €12 at the box office, which opens an hour before the concert:

  • Sunday 11 October, 7pm: “Cordes a escena”, cello and violin duo (Mónica Marí and Rubén Herrera), Corelli, Saint-Saëns, Bizet.
  • Sunday 18 October, 7pm: Spanish Brass, a brass quintet that has been touring for more than thirty years.
  • Sunday 25 October, 5.30pm: “Les fades dels somnis”, a family concert with singing, dancing and Disney songs.
  • Saturday 31 October, 7pm: “Retrats d’amor”, soprano and piano (Mar Vives and Marc Laliga).

The concert on the 25th is the one to go for if you have children. The others are perfect for a quiet end to the day, and Jesús is only 3 km from Ibiza town.

Eivissa Clàssica, 23 October

The Eivissa Clàssica festival (3 October to 13 December) has “Los Mundos Idealizados” on 23 October at 8pm by the Quintet Zèfir, in the Sala Capitular of Eivissa town hall: Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Grieg arranged for wind quintet.

Esphera, two days on Ibiza’s heritage on 15 and 16 October

Coupoles de l'église et ruelle de la vieille ville d'Ibiza

First edition of the Esphera cultural heritage days, at Sa Peixateria, the old fish market in La Marina turned into a cultural space. On the programme: art and history specialists, including Joan Molina, associate researcher at the Prado museum, and the poet Antonio Colinas, who has close ties with Ibiza. A niche event, but a rare one: it is in Spanish, and Eivissa council will publish the times nearer the date.

Food: the tapas route and estate visits after the grape harvest

From 21 to 25 October, the 2nd dTAPASxIBZ brings together bars and restaurants in Ibiza town around a creative tapa costing between €5 and €10. You vote for your favourite in the official app, and the winner represents Ibiza at the national tapas championship in Valladolid. The list of venues will be finalised in mid-October (registration until the 15th).

The grape harvest is over and the 2026 vintage looks promising. Can Rich offers estate visits Monday to Friday from 10am, with a tasting of three wines (white, rosé, red), hierbas and local produce. For the other estates, our guide to Ibiza wines lists the ones that welcome visitors. And if you pass through Sant Joan, the Estanco San Juan lets you taste its homemade hierbas, a family recipe.

Sport: cycling and trail running, autumn is for athletes

October is when the athletes take over from the party crowd. From 9 to 12 October, the 23rd Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza Campagnolo crosses the five municipalities in four stages starting from Sant Antoni: expect some roads to be closed at times. On 24 October, the Ibiza Trail Maratón Festival also starts from Sant Antoni, over three distances (11, 28 and 48 km, starting at 10am, 8.30am and 7.30am). The 48 km goes through Santa Agnès de Corona: if you are not running, it is a good excuse to go and cheer in one of the most unspoilt corners of the island.

Hippy markets: the last Wednesdays at Punta Arabí

Punta Arabí, in Es Canar, runs every Wednesday from 10am to 7pm until 28 October, the last market of the season. Las Dalias, in Sant Carles, stopped its night market at the end of September and switches to its winter rhythm: Saturday 10am to 7pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm. The small Thursday evening market in Cala Llonga carries on until the end of October.

My advice, learnt the hard way: always check the day and the time before getting in the car. One year, we turned up at Las Dalias on an evening when the market was closed. In October, with end-of-season timetable changes, it is even easier to get it wrong.

The 2026 closings, if you want to dance too

For those who want to end the season in a club, the dates to remember:

  • 9 October: Hï Ibiza closing (Black Coffee, The Martinez Brothers) and David Guetta’s last date at [UNVRS].
  • 10 October: [UNVRS] closing (Adriatique, Mochakk) and Ushuaïa closing (15 DJs, 11 hours of music).
  • 11 October: O Beach closing.
  • 16 October: joint closing of Playa Soleil and Bora Bora.
  • 17 October: Café Mambo closing, on Sant Antoni’s sunset strip.

After mid-October, Platja d’en Bossa and the West End in Sant Antoni empty fast: many hotels, restaurants and beach clubs close. If you are aiming for the end of the month, stay in Ibiza town or Santa Eulària, which stay lively all year. The full calendar and tickets are on Welcome To Ibiza.

Weather: the first rain, and two beaches closed in early October

October stays mild, with the sea above 22 degrees until mid-October, but it is also the month of the first storms. The first weekend of October brought half the month’s normal rainfall in two days, and Cala Tarida and Caló d’en Serral were temporarily closed to swimming after a wastewater discharge caused by the rain. Nothing exceptional or lasting, but leave a day’s margin in your plans and check the flags on the beach. More in our article on when to go to Ibiza and Formentera.

How to plan a trip in October

If you can only come for a weekend, go for 16 to 18 October: Fira de la Sal, Jazz Point, Spanish Brass in Jesús on the Sunday evening and the Playa Soleil closing on the Friday. The weekend of 9 to 12 October (national holiday on Monday the 12th) is the busiest, between Cala de Bou, the Vuelta cicloturista and the last big closings: book ahead.

The end of the month is quieter: Sant Rafel on the 24th, dTAPASxIBZ during the week, the last Punta Arabí on the 28th. It is the easiest time on the budget, with flights and hotels dropping sharply after the closings. Just think about a car: with fewer buses out of season, it becomes almost essential for getting from one village to another (see getting around Ibiza).

And next: the Sant Carles fiesta (4 November), the Festa del Vi Pagès in Sant Mateu (mid-November) and Santa Gertrudis (16 November) take over in November.
