Hotels guide

Where to stay in Formentera? By what matters to you: style, facilities, budget… area by area

A charming hotel in Sant Francesc, a beachfront address in Migjorn, a budget hotel, a more secluded, luxurious place: here is our selection of places to stay, sorted by area, budget and guest reviews.

Key points

  • First or short stay: La Savina, by the port. Ferry on foot, Ses Illetes 10 minutes away, some of the lowest prices on the island.
  • For evening buzz: Es Pujols, the only real resort, with restaurants and bars on foot.
  • For beach and nature: the Migjorn coast, 5 km of sand in the south, beachfront hotels, a car or scooter recommended.
  • Budget: from €70 a night in Es Pujols and Sant Ferran, €90 to €130 in La Savina, over €250 for the 4 and 5-star hotels of Migjorn and Cala Saona (starting prices shown on our hotel pages).

Which area

Where to stay in Formentera: which area to choose?

Formentera is 19 km long: nowhere to stay is really far from anything. The choice is mainly between convenience (La Savina), nightlife (Es Pujols) and beach (Migjorn). Most places are small, and many close from November to April. For the rest of your trip, see our Formentera travel guide.

My verdict

Sonia, VoyageIF author

For a short first stay, I recommend La Savina. I have stayed there twice and its location by the port is great: you drop your bags as you step off the ferry, pick them up just before you leave, and Ses Illetes is about twenty minutes by bike along the salt flats track. For a longer stay, I highly recommend the Migjorn side, for its long beach and stunning hotels.

Where to stay in Formentera on a budget?

The Migjorn coast for hotels right on the sand, and Cala Saona for sunsets over the red rocks. They are also the most expensive areas.

Is it better to stay in Ibiza or Formentera?
