Facing La Savina marina, a few minutes’ walk from the ferry: no need for a taxi when you arrive.
A simple family-run hostal, soundproofed, air-conditioned rooms, some with harbour views.
Ground-floor restaurant with a large terrace: seafood and paella.
No pool, but Ses Illetes is 4 km away and all the bike and scooter rental shops are next door.
Booking rating of 7.3: basic comfort, chosen for its location and price.
The Bellavista is one of the first buildings you see as you get off the ferry. You stay here to be at the heart of the island without a car, not for the design: the style is retro, the management family-run, and the rooms are basic.
Where is Hostal Bellavista?
The hostal faces La Savina marina, between the ferry terminal and the Estany Pudent lagoon. Everything is on foot when you arrive: supermarkets, bike, scooter and car hire, bus stops. Ses Illetes is 4 km away, reachable by bike along the track beside the salt flats.

The island’s best-known beach
It is the most convenient location on the island when you arrive without a car: you step off the ferry, drop your bags and rent bikes right next door. The track along the salt flats takes you to Ses Illetes in about twenty minutes, and you can walk there too. For a one- or two-day getaway to Formentera, or on a tight budget, it is the ideal place for me. Tried twice and approved!
The style is retro, it is true, but everything is very clean. If you want a pool or a designer room, look elsewhere.

Rooms and restaurant
Rooms are plain, clean and functional: air conditioning, soundproofing, TV, bathroom with bathtub. Ask for a harbour-side room: they are the most sought after, with views of the boats and, in the distance, the coast of Ibiza.
On the ground floor, the restaurant and its terrace follow the rhythm of the ferry arrivals. It serves seafood and a traditional paella, and breakfast is simple but does the job.
Who is it for?
Travellers without a car: ferry, bus and rental shops are right at the door.
