Santa Eulària des Riu

On Ibiza’s east coast, Santa Eulària des Riu is the town beach par excellence: a long strip of sand below a palm-lined promenade, a stone’s throw from the restaurants and the marina. It is the island’s third-largest municipality, more laid-back than Sant Antoni, and its central beach has the rare advantage of being clean, supervised and accessible to everyone, wheelchairs included.

Santa Eulària stretches along the seafront, with about 300 metres of golden sand. The town has three beaches linked by an elegant palm-lined promenade, lit up in the evening. On one side is the river mouth, on the other the marina: this is a complete resort, where the beach is just one element among the shops, terraces and local life.

About Santa Eulària

Santa Eulària is the most family-friendly and peaceful resort on the east coast. The well-kept main beach is perfect for anyone who wants a hassle-free day: parking is easy, everything is on hand, and the shallow water reassures families. It is also one of the few beaches in Ibiza designed for accessibility, with amphibious wheelchairs available to hire.

The promenade is the real asset: people stroll it from morning to evening, between the marina and the river, past two wide sandy beaches. A bridge of Roman origin adds a heritage touch to the walk. It is a beach where you combine swimming, lunch on a terrace and wandering, rather than a corner of raw nature.

For a change of scene, the area’s wilder coves are not far: Cala Llonga to the south, or Cala Pada and Es Canar heading north-east.

Access and parking in Santa Eulària

This is one of the beach’s strong points: it is easy to get to. Santa Eulària is well served by car and bus from Ibiza Town and the rest of the east coast, and the town has parking, although it fills up in midsummer. As the central beach is right in town, you can do everything on foot once you are there.

Accessibility is genuinely well handled here: the main beach is wheelchair accessible and offers amphibious wheelchairs, making it a good choice for travellers with reduced mobility or families with pushchairs. A detail that makes all the difference when you know how steep many of the island’s coves are.

Restaurants, services and activities

For food, you are spoilt for choice. The promenade and the marina are lined with restaurants, bars and shops, from fresh fish to international cuisine. The marina, at the eastern end of the bay, has the more refined addresses, perfect for dinner facing the boats. Prices vary widely depending on whether you go for a beach snack or a marina restaurant.

The beach is well suited to gentle water sports: dinghy sailing, canoeing, paddleboarding, pedal boats. Nothing extreme, but enough to fill a family day. To go further, our guide to activities in Ibiza lists outings and trips from the east coast.

Santa Eulària makes an excellent base for a family stay, calmer than San Antonio and well placed for exploring. To choose where to stay in the area, see our Ibiza hotel guide.
