Cala Pada

Cala Pada is a natural-sand beach on Ibiza’s east coast, less than 10 minutes from Santa Eulalia del Río. Protected by a small breakwater, its water stays calm all summer. Popular with families and holidaymakers staying nearby, it has water sports, restaurants and pine woods along the shore.

A small cove sheltered by a jetty, which makes the water very calm. It is surrounded by pines. The sand is fine. It is ideal for snorkelling and canoeing, as the sea is very peaceful. It has a restaurant and some services. It is popular with families looking for a quieter atmosphere than the neighbouring beaches.

Natural sand, turquoise water and clear seabed: Cala Pada’s real assets

About 200 m long and 10 to 20 m wide, Cala Pada stands out for its entirely sandy seabed, unusual on this stretch of coast, where rocky bottoms dominate. The water is turquoise, shallow at the entry, with a gentle slope that suits children and cautious swimmers.

A small central jetty divides the beach into two areas: on the right, an entirely public space; on the left, several businesses rent out sunbeds and parasols. The Brisa de la Mar restaurant serves fish and seafood facing the sea. Swimwear and souvenir shops are on the car park side.

The beach is lined with pines that give welcome natural shade in midsummer. It has showers, toilets, lifeguards and a diving school. For water sports, pedal boats, kayaks, SUP, sailing and banana boats are available to hire.

Access and parking at Cala Pada: a practical guide

From Santa Eulalia, take the Es Canar road (Ctra. de César Puget Riquer) north.
After about 1.8 km, a sign points to Cala Pada.
The beach is 2 km from Es Canar and 3.5 km from the centre of Santa Eulalia.
There is a free car park less than 500 m away, belonging to one of the beach restaurants. In high season it fills up quickly: plan to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon. More parking is available on the surrounding roads.

A bus serves Cala Pada in summer from Santa Eulalia and Es Canar. A ferry service also links the beach with Santa Eulalia, Es Canar, Cala Llonga and Ibiza Town.
By bike or on foot, coastal paths reach Cala Pada from Es Canar in about 30 minutes, or from Santa Eulalia in about 90 minutes.

Diving, coastal walks, treetop adventure:
what to do at Cala Pada?

From the shore, the view looks over a bay enclosed by small reefs, with the pine-lined coast behind. The horizon stays open out to sea.

The diving centre on the beach runs trips for all levels. You can snorkel straight from the shore, as the sandy bottom keeps the water clear from the first few metres. Following the coastal path south, you reach Es Niu Blau beach in about 20 minutes, past red cliffs and pines. It is one of the most pleasant coastal walks on Ibiza’s east side.

About 600 m from the beach, a treetop adventure course suits families with children or anyone wanting to vary the day. For boat trips to Formentera or along the east coast, departures leave regularly from Santa Eulalia.

Staying near Cala Pada: the 4-star “Magic Life Cala Pada”

For those who want to stay right by the beach, Magic Life Cala Pada is an all-inclusive complex of 316 apartments and studios in Santa Eulalia del Río, a few hundred metres from the sand.

The estate covers about 70,000 m² of gardens. The rooms, all with a balcony, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, are 200 to 400 m from the bay depending on location.

Guests have access to 3 outdoor pools (one for sport, one for adults and one for children with slides), as well as 3 buffet restaurants, 2 bars, a fitness centre and a mini-club with activities. Mountain-bike outings are organised several times a week.

The all-inclusive package covers meals and drinks in the shared areas. Sunbeds and parasols on the beach are extra (about €10 each, €25 for a set of 2 sunbeds + parasol).

The bus stop is 10 metres from the entrance, making it easy to get to Santa Eulalia or Es Canar without a car.

My recommendation:

Cala Pada is neither the most secret nor the wildest beach on the island, but it keeps a simple promise: calm water over clean sandy bottoms, real services on site and the chance to spend a proper day by the water without any planning.

For a family or group wanting to combine swimming, snorkelling and lunch with your feet in the sand, it is a very good choice on the east coast.
