Cala Martina in Ibiza is a fine-sand inlet facing south-east, a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Santa Eularia des Riu. Framed by low houses and orchards, it offers a calm setting accessible to the whole family.
Its shallow water, lack of currents and gentle slope make it a reliable choice for those travelling with children or looking to do water sports safely. Opposite, the islets of Illa de Santa Eularia and Illa Redona dot the horizon and give the bay a recognisable look.
Cala Martina is on Ibiza’s east coast, south of the Es Canar resort, in the municipality of Santa Eularia des Riu.
In short: a beach popular for water sports, especially windsurfing. The sand is fine and the water shallow, which is pleasant for children. It is next to the Es Canar resort and close to the famous Punta Arabí hippie market. There are restaurants and sunbed hire. The atmosphere is family-friendly and sporty.

Fine sand and transparent water
Cala Martina is about 150 metres long and 20 metres wide, in a U shape. Its sand is fine and pale, and the slope gentle: 30 metres from the shore, the water is barely 1.8 metres deep. The water is transparent, with a sandy bottom and rocky areas on the sides that are good for snorkelling.
The beach is exposed to the south wind, which makes it a well-known spot for dinghy sailing and windsurfing for all levels. On site, a water-sports centre rents boats and equipment. Pedal boats, windsurf boards, canoes and paddleboards are all available right from the shore.
Facilities are complete: hammocks and parasols for hire, showers, toilets. The beach is rarely packed, even in midsummer, which adds to its peaceful atmosphere.
For food, Restaurant Cala Martina is right on the beach and open all year. The menu showcases Mediterranean and Ibizan cuisine: paellas, fresh fish, seafood and local specialities such as flaó and greixonera. Sa Trenka, open since 1978, also serves fish and rice dishes. For a lighter break, several beach bars line the shore. Chirincana, at the end of the inlet, hosts live music in the evenings in summer.
Getting to Cala Martina: car, bus and parking
By car, the beach is reached from the PM-810 towards Es Canar. Turn off before you reach the resort: the beach is well signposted. There is a free car park right next to it. Allow about 35 minutes from Ibiza airport.
A bus stop serves the area about 300 metres from the beach. From Es Canar, you can also walk or cycle to Cala Martina along the coast.

Water sports, diving and a hippie market: things to do around Cala Martina
From the beach, the view looks straight out to the islets of Illa de Santa Eularia and Illa Redona. They can be reached by boat, and their underwater caves and red-coral seabeds make them popular with divers and snorkellers.
The beach’s water-sports centre lets you sail, windsurf, paddleboard and canoe without going far. When the south wind blows, conditions are particularly good for windsurfing.
A few minutes’ walk away, the Punta Arabí hippie market in Es Canar is held every Wednesday. It is one of Ibiza’s best-known markets, with crafts, clothes and local produce. The Las Dalias market, another east-coast must, is also within driving distance of Cala Martina.

Our recommendation
Cala Martina does not try too hard. That is precisely what makes it a good choice: fine sand, calm translucent water, accessible water sports, a restaurant open all year and an atmosphere that stays human even in season. If you are looking for a beach where you can drop your things, walk straight into the water and spend a real Ibizan day without any fuss, Cala Martina ticks the boxes. In the evening, when the lights of the islets reflect on the water and Chirincana plays its first notes, you will understand why locals keep coming back…
