Goodbye Ushuaïa Tower and Hard Rock: what really changes with The Unexpected and The Site Hotel

For the 2026 season, Playa d’en Bossa is going through its biggest shake-up in a decade. The iconic facades of Ushuaïa Tower and the Hard Rock Hotel have given way to two bold new names: The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel and The Site Hotel.

Driven by the prestigious Palladium Hotel Group, these changes are not just a lick of paint: they offer a completely new experience. Between the high-profile arrival of Gordon Ramsay and ultra-transgressive room concepts, these hotels are in their first season.

Should you stay there this summer? What are the key new features?
Here is the guide to understanding it all.

The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel: a hotel that breaks the mould

The former Ushuaïa Tower has a new name and a new vibe! As the first property in The Unexpected Hotels collection, the hotel asserts its identity: adults-only luxury that breaks the traditional codes of the hotel world. The complete renovation does keep some strong, well-known signature elements, such as the emblematic hummingbird and the visual identity.

Immersive design

The architecture has been rethought to stimulate the senses. From the entrance, art installations and lighting effects create a unique, constantly changing atmosphere. The renovation was entrusted to the Spanish design studio U Interior Design. Led by Laura Huerta, the studio has turned the building into an immersive experience where technology meets luxury.

Concept rooms

The hotel now has 181 rooms and suites. They have been designed as provocative, high-tech jewel boxes, where every detail (from the smart lighting system to the organic furniture) shakes up the standards of luxury hotels.

The hotel offers concepts unique on the market:

  • Fashion Victim Room: the design centrepiece. It stands out for its spectacular round bed and a designer bathtub built into the living space. The look is very “haute couture”.
  • Don’t Be Shy Room: a space that plays with the limits of privacy. With its transparent shower walls, mirror effects and premium erotic kit, it is aimed at free and daring spirits.
  • The Twist & Go Room: modern sophistication in a nutshell. Ideal for couples, it offers every tech comfort (Maxibar, LED mood lighting) with a side view of the sea or the gardens.

The 57 m² “Anything Can Happen” suites come in two versions:

  1. Stage View: the ultimate option for clubbers. Your private terrace becomes a VIP box looking straight down on the Ushuaïa Club stage. You experience sets by the world’s biggest DJs from your own outdoor jacuzzi.
  2. Front Sea View: for those who prefer sunrise over the Mediterranean. Here the terrace jacuzzi offers total calm facing the horizon, far from the buzz of the stage.

The height of exclusivity: “I’m On Top Of The World“: on the 8th floor, the presidential suite is a 214 m² architectural feat. It is no longer a room, it is a master apartment devoted to partying and prestige:

  • Facilities: a huge living room, dining room, two marble bathrooms and a full bar with a DJ booth.
  • The bonus: a vast panoramic terrace with the best view on the island over the sea and the open-air events.

The clubbing spirit

Although separate from Ushuaïa Club, The Unexpected hotel offers privileged access to the parties, including David Guetta every Monday night. You go from your private terrace to one of the best open-air clubs in the world in a few steps. As a guest, you can enjoy the clubbing atmosphere while having a more exclusive, private space.
Whatever you choose, every room in the hotel comes with upmarket services and unlimited access to Ushuaïa Club events!

Hell’s Kitchen comes to Ibiza: Gordon Ramsay’s bold bet

It is THE food event of 2026. For the launch of The Unexpected, Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay is opening his first Hell’s Kitchen in continental Europe in Ibiza.

“Ibiza has an energy like nowhere else in the world. Hell’s Kitchen is not just a restaurant, it is a performance that perfectly matches the ‘unexpected’ spirit of this hotel.” Gordon Ramsay

The Hell’s Kitchen experience

The restaurant recreates the atmosphere of the famous TV show: an open kitchen where teams compete live, spectacular decor and the chef’s signature dishes such as Beef Wellington and Sticky Toffee Pudding. For lovers of good food and a show, it is the address not to miss this season.

And there are still other dining options in the hotel:

  • The Unexpected Breakfast (innovative buffet)
  • Antïdote: Recharge Station (healthy bar)
  • The Beach, Unexpected Ibiza (Mediterranean cuisine)
  • The Oyster & Caviar Bar (Nikkei cuisine, a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian elements)
  • Minami Japanese Restaurant

The Site Hotel: Mediterranean elegance after Rock ‘n’ Roll

Within the former walls of the Hard Rock Hotel, “The Site Hotel” takes a new turn. The musical spirit remains, but the “rock memorabilia” style gives way to pared-back Mediterranean luxury.

The transformation of The Site Hotel Ibiza bears the signature of renowned interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, a leading name in global luxury design. Moving away from the busy rock aesthetic of the old brand, more than €90 million was invested (with Palladium Hotel Group) to bring a “Mediterranean luxury” spirit to the property’s 461 suites.
Favouring organic materials, earthy tones and understated elegance, Rosa-Violán has turned this Playa d’en Bossa giant into a sophisticated lifestyle sanctuary, reaffirming its status as a food and wellness hub at the heart of the island.

An upmarket offer for families

Unlike its neighbour, The Site welcomes demanding families. The kids’ club has been redesigned to offer creative activities rather than mere entertainment.

A food capital

The hotel strengthens its position as a culinary leader with Sublimotion, the immersive experience by Eduardo Gonzalez and Paco Roncero, and the renowned Tatel Ibiza. Here are all the hotel’s dining options:

  • Sessions: a large, modern and very varied buffet that reinvents breakfast and themed dinners.
  • Sublimotion: Paco Roncero’s restaurant, famous for being the most expensive in the world, with its futuristic 360° show.
  • Tatel Ibiza: the essential spot for chic Spanish cuisine in a trendy, jazzy setting.
  • The Beach Club: ideal for fresh fish or a good paella with your feet in the sand and music in the background.
  • The Sky Lounge: a rooftop perfect for sipping a cocktail and sharing tapas with an incredible view of the island.

Wellness and panoramic views

The spa has been enlarged to become a real refuge after Ibiza nights out. The rooftop offers one of the finest views of Dalt Vila and, in the distance, Formentera. The spa has 5 treatment rooms, some for couples. On the menu: facials and body treatments, scrubs, manicures, pedicures and aromatherapy. Facilities: sauna, jacuzzi and hammam. Open every day. Adults only (18 and over).
