S’Estanyol

Between Santa Eulària and Es Canar, on Ibiza’s east coast, S’Estanyol is a tiny, secluded cove that has become a place of pilgrimage for lovers of peace. A shore of rocks and a little sand, dense pine woods for shade, and a quality rustic chiringuito that accounts for much of its reputation: it is a refuge for slowing down, far from the big beaches.

S’Estanyol is tucked away in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, away from the main roads. The cove is small, surrounded by pines and bamboo that give rare shade on the island, with medium-grain golden sand mixed with rock formations. It is where you come for total tranquillity rather than the services of a developed beach.

About S’Estanyol

S’Estanyol has every sign of a well-kept secret: a cove nestled in dense pine woods, a shore where rocks alternate with patches of sand, and a rocky seabed carpeted with algae with a few sandy areas. It is not a comfortable resort beach, but a corner of nature for those who love quiet swims and afternoons in the shade of the trees.

The spot has become a favourite for lovers of peace and walks, who appreciate its unspoilt atmosphere. The rocky seabed is good for snorkelling. To stay in the area between Santa Eulària and Es Canar, Es Canar and the neighbouring cove of Es Niu Blau offer a more developed setting.

Access and parking at S’Estanyol

Access is part of S’Estanyol’s charm and difficulty. You reach the cove by car or bike, with parking nearby, but space gets scarce at weekends and in high season. The last stretch follows a somewhat tricky track that leaves the road between Jesús and Roca Llisa.

So it is best to come early and accept an approach that is anything but a motorway: that is precisely what keeps the crowds away and preserves the peace of the place. Bring what you need to be self-sufficient, as facilities on site are minimal.

Eating and good practice

S’Estanyol’s chiringuito is a real reason to come: rustic but good quality, it is part of the cove’s identity and lets you enjoy the setting without bringing everything. It is the kind of simple, authentic spot you associate with the Ibiza of before mass tourism.

Beyond that, S’Estanyol is all about nature: swimming, snorkelling, resting in the shade of the pines. To plan the rest of your stay on the east coast, our guide to activities in Ibiza and our Ibiza hotel guide cover the Santa Eulària area.
