On Formentera’s north-east coast, Es Pujols is the island’s big exception: its only real beach resort.
A former fishing village turned tourist hub, it is where Formentera’s nightlife beats, night market included. But the beach, a crescent of pale sand edged with turquoise water, keeps a surprisingly relaxed feel for such a lively place.
Es Pujols is about 5 km east of La Savina port, which makes it a handy base for exploring the island. The main beach stretches for more than a kilometre, made of several sections of fine sand separated by rocky outcrops. The white sand contrasts nicely with the water, and the seafront promenade has most of the bars and restaurants.

About Es Pujols
Es Pujols mixes two moods: the energy of a tourist centre and the calm of the neighbouring coves. The beach is made up of small inlets of pale sand, perfect for family swimming, as the water is shallow and calm. The coastline runs from the lively promenade to the more sheltered coves of Ses Canyes and Sa Roqueta, a few minutes’ walk away.
Unlike many Spanish resorts, Es Pujols has kept a laid-back charm, without excessive concrete or excess. People come to enjoy the beach by day and the atmosphere in the evening, all on a human scale. For wilder beaches nearby, head to Ses Illetes to the north, or the long Migjorn coast to the south.

Access and parking in Es Pujols
Access is among the easiest in Formentera. From La Savina port, it is about 5 to 6 km: you reach Es Pujols by car, scooter or bike in a few minutes. Several local bus lines also serve the town, handy if you want to avoid driving.
There is parking in the village, although it fills up in high season as everywhere on the island. Es Pujols’ advantage is that you can stay there and do everything on foot: beach, restaurants, shops and nightlife are concentrated in a small area. If you are coming from Ibiza, our complete guide to the Ibiza-Formentera ferry will help you plan the crossing.

Restaurants, bars and nightlife
This is Es Pujols’ playground. The seafront promenade is lined with small restaurants and shops, and in the evening the atmosphere steps up a notch. Among the institutions, Chez Gerdi is much more than a restaurant: food blending Italian and Asian influences, DJ sets and entertainment that turn the place into an open-air stage.
Es Pujols is where Formentera’s nightlife is liveliest, with its night market and a special atmosphere once the sun has set. It is a far cry from Ibiza’s excess: the atmosphere here is gentler and friendlier, like the island itself. Restaurant prices are in line with Formentera, so it is best to know before you sit down.
