On Ibiza’s west coast near Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Cala Tarida wins visitors over with its 900 metres of fine white sand, shallow, lagoon-like turquoise water and its very relaxed family atmosphere.
The beach has everything for a successful day by the sea, from water sports to restaurants, plus access adapted for people with reduced mobility. It is one of the island’s popular beaches, ideal for families as well as anyone looking for a peaceful atmosphere away from the bustle of the big resorts.
In short: the beach is divided into several white-sand sections. It is a very busy beach with plenty of services: several restaurants, shops and a dive centre. Its layout makes it versatile: the main part is lively and family-friendly, while the southern sections are quieter and rockier. The water is a beautiful blue and the bay well sheltered. Access is easy and it is well served by buses and roads. It is ideal for a full family day without missing any comforts.

A family beach with crystal-clear water
Cala Tarida stretches along a protected bay surrounded by pine-covered hills. Its fine white sand contrasts with the turquoise, azure and emerald shades of its transparent water. The right-hand part has shallow sandy bottoms, perfect for children, while the left-hand side is rockier and deeper. Two small islets rise off the coast, including Sa Sabata, which the more adventurous can swim to.
The beach has sunbeds, parasols, showers and public toilets. Several restaurants and beach clubs line the shore, with options ranging from quick snacks to refined Mediterranean cuisine. Its south-west orientation lets you enjoy the sun all day and admire memorable sunsets.
I highly recommend this beach if you are with your family or if you love little lagoons and fine sand. I have been several times and it is truly stunning!

How to get there
Access and parking at Cala Tarida
By car from Ibiza Town, follow the PM-803 towards Sant Agustí, then take the signposted turn-off for Cala Bassa and Cala Tarida. From San Antonio, cross the whole bay to the junction signposted for Cala Comte and Cala Bassa. From Sant Josep, take the left turn after the village towards Cala Vedella. There are parking areas around the beach, although finding a space can be difficult in high season and at weekends.
Bus lines 5 and 38 serve Cala Tarida from Sant Josep and Sant Antoni. The stop is about 500 metres from the beach.
Water sports and discoveries around Cala Tarida
From the beach, the view stretches over the turquoise Mediterranean and the green hills surrounding the bay, an unspoilt natural setting. The sunsets, visible from several seafront restaurants, are a particularly popular show at the end of the day.
The beach offers jet ski, boat, kayak and paddleboard hire. A dive centre runs trips to discover the surrounding seabed. Nearby, several hikes let you explore the coast, including to the top of Sa Talaia, Ibiza’s highest point, about two and a half hours’ walk. The village of Sant Josep, a few kilometres away, is worth a visit for its authentic island atmosphere.
