This beach is mainly made of large round pebbles and gravel, but it is above all famous for its upmarket beach clubs. It is very popular with yacht owners, who drop anchor in the bay. Access is easy. The atmosphere is sophisticated and geared towards luxury relaxation. Swimming is pleasant and the water transparent. It is an option for those who put service, music and atmosphere before fine sand.
Cala Jondal is on Ibiza’s south coast, about 15 minutes’ drive from Ibiza Town. This pebble cove with crystal-clear turquoise water has become one of the island’s most sought-after beach destinations, especially for renowned beach clubs such as Blue Marlin. This must-see spot combines natural beauty with a festive atmosphere.

A glamorous and wild cove
Cala Jondal is about 300 metres long and 20 metres wide, nestled in a bay sheltered from the wind by its southern orientation. The beach is made of white pebbles that give way to a sandy bottom once you are in the water, making for pleasant swimming with a gentle slope.
Steps make it easy to get into the water despite the pebbles.
The crystal-clear water with turquoise glints contrasts with the rocky cliffs and pines framing the cove. The sea changes colour and temperature with the currents, offering shades different from Ibiza’s other beaches. The beach changes from one day to the next, making every swim unique and surprising.
It is one of my favourite beaches in Ibiza. I go back every year without hesitation. The atmosphere, the water that changes with the currents, the massages at Tropicana…
Car access and parking at Cala Jondal
To reach Cala Jondal by car from Ibiza Town, follow the PM-803 towards San José. At km 7, take the signposted turn-off to Cala Jondal. If you are coming from the airport, take the second exit at the last roundabout, then follow signs for Sa Caleta until you see the sign for Cala Jondal on your left. The last stretch of road is narrow and winding. There is a car park at the entrance to the bay, with extra spaces near the restaurants, but they fill up quickly in high season. I have always found a space, though.
Relaxation, food and views
From Cala Jondal, you get a panoramic view of the Mediterranean, with yachts anchored offshore and green cliffs framing the bay. Sunsets are particularly popular, when golden light falls on the pines and rocks. You can reach the boats anchored offshore with the zodiac services run by the beach clubs.
In the middle of the cove, the atmosphere is chic and festive, attracting an international crowd and celebrities. Several renowned beach clubs and restaurants line the shore, including the famous Blue Marlin Ibiza, known for its DJ sessions and VIP atmosphere, and Tropicana Beach Club, which serves traditional Mediterranean food with a sea view and relaxing beachside massages.

Here is a summary of the restaurants on the cove:
- Tropicana Ibiza – festive beach club with music, international food and a relaxed setting on the beach
- Blue Marlin Ibiza – iconic beach club with DJs, a glamorous atmosphere, upmarket Mediterranean food and seafood
- Casa Jondal – Mediterranean restaurant known for exceptional seafood and an elegant seaside atmosphere
- Yemanjá Ibiza – traditional, family-run Spanish cooking for more than 30 years, specialising in paellas and local produce, open all year
- Es Torrent – authentic beach restaurant near Cala Jondal, specialising in fresh fish and seafood in a relaxed setting
If you want sunbeds and restaurant tables, book ahead, especially on summer weekends when it gets very busy. Personally, we have always found a table to eat; we always go to Tropicana.
For total relaxation, at the Tropicana Beach Club restaurant, beachside massages let you unwind to the sound of the waves.

Near Cala Jondal, I recommend discovering the archaeological site of Sa Caleta, just 1.3 km away, the remains of an ancient Phoenician settlement listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or visiting the church of Es Cubells, perched on the heights, for a spectacular view.
