On Ibiza’s west coast, Cala Conta, known in Spanish as Cala Conta and as Platges de Comte in Catalan, is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It is famous for its crystal-clear turquoise water, white sand and spectacular sunsets.
Just 15 km from San Antonio, this beach appeals to families, snorkellers and travellers looking for Caribbean-style scenery alike. Watch out in summer: parking spaces are very scarce!
Made up of several coves with different atmospheres, Cala Conta has shallow water ideal for swimming, rocky seabeds rich in marine life and a stunning view of the islets offshore. Easy to reach by car, or by bus in season, it also has well-known restaurants such as Sunset Ashram, perfect for a drink while watching the sun sink below the horizon.

About Cala Comte
Cala Conta is on Ibiza’s west coast, in the municipality of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, about 15 kilometres from San Antonio. The beach is ideally placed for watching the sunset over the Mediterranean.
Cala Conta captivates with the transparency of its turquoise water, reminiscent of the Caribbean. Made up of several coves with different atmospheres, it has water as clear as a swimming pool and views of the islets scattered offshore. The fine white sand contrasts with the reddish cliffs, creating a natural setting loved by swimmers. Every time I go, I feel like I am swimming in a little lagoon.
Cala Conta has three distinct beaches. The main one, on the right, stretches for about 200 metres of fine white sand. The second, rockier, attracts snorkellers with its underwater formations. The third, Cala Escondida, is hidden behind the car park and has a slightly quieter atmosphere.
The water stays shallow, so it suits families with children; however, in high season it gets so crowded that, personally, it is not the one I would choose with young children!
Water-sports fans can paddleboard, kayak or explore the seabed snorkelling. There are plenty of activities in Ibiza in this area (jet skis, sunset boat trips, etc.).
Two popular restaurants line the beach, including the famous Sunset Ashram, which overlooks the coves from its raised position.
Sunbeds and parasols can be hired, but it is best to arrive early in high season to get one. Allow about €50 to rent a sunbed in summer.
Sunset Ashram
Sunset Ashram serves Mediterranean food in a boho-chic atmosphere, with a terrace offering a spectacular view. Lounge music accompanies the evenings at this popular spot. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is clearly a great place for a good time. Watch your budget, though! And reviews are sometimes mixed depending on the season. You can order drinks and take them down to the beach.

Enjoy the view and activities around Cala Conta
The islets opposite Cala Conta offer a remarkable view, especially at sunset when the sky turns orange and pink. Its position on the west of Ibiza makes Cala Conta one of the best spots to admire the Mediterranean dusk. Boats drop anchor to enjoy the show from the sea.
Several activities are on offer around this cove: exploring neighbouring coves on foot, walks along the cliffs and water sports such as snorkelling. See my guide to activities in Ibiza to find the one for you.
The other very well-known beach near Cala Conta is Cala Bassa.
