Beaches

Aguas Blancas

On Ibiza’s north-east coast, a few kilometres from the village of Sant Carles de Peralta, Aigües Blanques beach is one of the most authentic spots on the island.

Far from the bustle of the big developed beaches, it attracts families, couples and travellers looking for an unspoilt natural setting.
Its golden sand, ochre cliffs and clear water make it a place apart, open to anyone ready to walk down the slope to discover it.

In short: set below cliffs, this beach is one of Ibiza’s two official nudist beaches. The sand is darker. It is famous for the natural clay found in the cliffs, often used by bathers for mud masks. It is often subject to waves when the wind comes from the east. It is fairly isolated. Small chiringuitos serve basic food. It is for lovers of wild beaches and naturism.

Aigües Blanques: golden sand, cliffs and natural clay by the water

Aigües Blanques stretches for about 300 metres and is quite narrow, squeezed between the sea and cliffs 10 to 15 metres high that give it a raw, distinctive character. The sand is golden, fine in places, dotted with rocks that run down to the water and divide the shore into small areas. The water is clear, a bright blue-green, but it can be rough: the beach is exposed to the east wind, which brings a regular, sometimes strong swell. So it is not the ideal place if you want a perfectly calm sea, but that lively character is precisely what appeals to its regulars.

Aigües Blanques is one of Ibiza’s two official naturist beaches. The north of the beach is traditionally for naturists, while the southern part is open to everyone. The atmosphere is relaxed and non-judgemental, and the mix of people (families, couples, island regulars) gives the place a gentle vibe that is quite rare in Ibiza.

A detail that surprises visitors and keeps them coming back: the cliffs are made of natural clay. It is common to see bathers smear it on their bodies before rinsing off in the sea. A local, unpretentious practice that is part of the beach’s identity.

There are two chiringuitos on the beach. The larger one is near the path down, the second a little further south. Both hire out sunloungers and parasols, a welcome option on days when the swell is strong. Note: because of the beach’s orientation and the height of the cliffs, shade reaches the sand from mid-afternoon. Arriving in the morning lets you make the most of the sun.

Getting to Aigües Blanques: parking, the walk down and practical info

From Sant Carles de Peralta, take the PM-810 towards Cala Sant Vicent. After a few kilometres, a sign clearly marks the turn-off to Aigües Blanques on the right. The paid car park (about €3) is at the top of the cliff, about 400 metres from the beach. You walk down a fairly steep paved road: allow about ten minutes.
The climb back is harder, especially in the heat, so bring water. Parking on the roadside is forbidden and enforced. There is no direct public transport to Aigües Blanques: a car is the only practical way to get there.

Clay, kayaking and wild coast: things to do around Aigües Blanques

From the beach or the clifftop car park, the view of Ibiza’s north-east coast is striking: the cliffs drop straight into deep blue water and, on clear days, the island of Tagomago appears on the horizon. A panorama that alone justifies the walk down.

On site, the cliff’s natural clay baths are the must-do: smear it on, let it dry for a few minutes, then rinse off in the sea, a local ritual regulars never skip. The regular swell also makes the beach appealing for those who like invigorating swims in open sea.

A few minutes away by car, Es Figueral beach is a starting point for kayak or paddleboard trips along the marine nature reserve. These outings let you explore coves you cannot reach on foot and snorkel over untouched seabeds. To discover all the activities in the area, see our full selection on the activities page.

Aigües Blanques is unlike any other beach in Ibiza. The golden sand ringed by cliffs, the lively water and the clay ritual give it a clear-cut, no-frills identity. If you are looking for a cove where the hours slip by unnoticed, far from rows of parasols and portable speakers, Aigües Blanques is worth the detour, and the climb back up.
